Margherita Pizza

20130329008-EditMaking homemade pizza is one of our favorite things to do on Friday nights. We’ve tried all types of pizza recipes but sometimes I just love a classic Margherita Pizza.

This pizza is so easy to throw together. A few weeks ago I was exhausted when I got home from work on Friday but still able get this in the oven. Okay, so maybe I had a little help. But seriously it is that easy. There are just a few ingredients to prep and assemble.20130329004-EditFirst, chop a couple of garlic cloves, slice two tomatoes, 1/2 lb of fresh mozzarella, and a bunch of fresh basil. Then roll out the dough to assemble the pizza. 20130329006-Edit

Drizzle olive oil and scatter the garlic on the dough. Then spread 1/2 cup of pizza sauce evenly across the top. Next top with the basil, tomatoes and mozzarella cheese. Bake for 20-25 minutes at 400 degrees. 20130329011-Edit

Margherita Pizza 


1 package pizza dough

1 tablespoon olive oil

2 cloves garlic

2 tomatoes

1 bunch fresh basil

1/2 lb fresh mozzarella

1/2 cup pizza sauce


Preheat oven to 400 degrees and place pizza stone in the oven (if you are using one). Remove the pizza dough from the refrigerator. Carefully roll dough out to fit the size of your pizza stone or cookie sheet. Once the pizza stone has preheated remove from oven to assemble pizza or prepare on baking sheet. Drizzle olive oil and scatter garlic on the dough. Then evenly spread the sauce. Next top with basil, fresh mozzarella, and tomatoes. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until slightly browned.
