Our 2013 Christmas Ornament

20131221028Every year I like to make a new handmade Christmas ornament for our tree, to celebrate something important from the year. Last year I made a wedding ornament. I took an extra wedding invitation, cut it in strips, curled the strips and stuffed them inside a clear ball ornament.

This year I wanted to make an ornament for our move to Colorado. I saw this idea on pinterest and decided to recreate it.

Materials:
felt
frixion pen
scissors

needle

Staying Healthy This Holiday Season

AL phone upload 10-24-13 357This holiday season I want to stay on track with healthy habits. This includes eating healthy (for the most part) and getting some type of exercise everyday.

In November I was working out a few times a week. I want to do better than that and work out everyday in December for at least 30 minutes! The weather here in Colorado has been fluctuating between really cold and pretty mild. On the warms days, I plan to go for a 4.5 mile walk. Because this takes me about 1 hour and 20 minutes, I definitely won’t be doing it everyday.  I have a plan for a shorter workout on those really cold days.  Continue reading

Christmas Album Part 1: Getting Started

20131201009-Edit

This year I am starting a Christmas through the years album. It will be similar to the December Daily approach except that i’m not planning on taking a photo a day. Instead, I’m focusing on how we celebrate the season and telling the bigger stories in more detail. I don’t want to stress myself out by setting an expectation to document a photo/ story a day.

I am using a big 12 x 12 album and hope I can fit at least five years of Christmas documentation in this album. I will be using a variety of Project Life page protectors and inserts. Continue reading
